So one of my greatest passions is being in nature. I love to hike, explore caves, canoe, kayak, camp, etc. The downfall??? I'm stuck in the midwest-illinois to be exact. I feel like i've already been to all the parks around the area where I can fulfill my need to hike. So I'm hoping to discover somewhere new to go this summer in case I don't make it to Yellowstone as planned. Anybody have any suggestions I can look into? I do like a more challenging terrain (why was I born in the great plains???).

`Head east to Ohio. There is some awesome hiking in Cuyahoga National Park. Especially check out the ledges. There are also some shorter hikes in the county parks in the Cleveland area -- I especially enjoyed Swine Creek in (I believe) Geauga County; expect to find Amish families enjoying that park, too -- the parking lots have sections designed for buggies.
